SEO for local businesses

What SEO actually does for a local business

When someone in Stamford searches for a dentist, or a homeowner in Darien looks for a contractor, Google has to decide which businesses to show. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the work that helps it understand what you do, where you do it and why your page is the best answer, and that makes the difference between a steady stream of calls and a website nobody visits.

For most Fairfield County and Westchester businesses, that means three things working together: a website that is technically easy for Google to crawl and fast for people to use, a local presence that is consistent everywhere your business appears online, and content that answers the questions your customers actually type. We handle all three, and because we build websites for a living, we can fix the code, not just report on it.

What's included

Our SEO services

Technical SEO

We audit how Google crawls and indexes your site and fix what's holding it back: site structure, redirects, canonical tags, XML sitemaps, robots.txt, broken links, duplicate pages, structured data (schema.org) and the errors reported in Google Search Console.

Local SEO for Connecticut and Westchester

Consistent name, address and phone details across the web, LocalBusiness schema, service and location pages written for real customers (never thin copy-paste town pages), citations on directories such as Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, Yelp and your local chamber of commerce, and an honest review-request process.

Content and keyword strategy

Keyword research based on how people in your area really search, then service pages, FAQs and blog posts that answer those searches, with internal links that tell Google which pages matter most.

Core Web Vitals and site speed

We measure loading speed (LCP), responsiveness (INP) and visual stability (CLS) with real-user data, then fix the causes: oversized images, render-blocking scripts, heavy themes and slow hosting.

Analytics and reporting

Google Analytics 4 and Search Console set up correctly, with call and form tracking so you can see which searches turn into leads. Every month you get a short, plain-English report on impressions, clicks, rankings and inquiries.

SEO maintenance

Ongoing monitoring for crawl errors, broken pages and speed regressions, redirects whenever URLs change, content updates, and a check after major Google updates, so the work doesn't quietly decay after launch.

Google Business Profile

Google Business Profile: what we can and can't do

Google Business Profile is the listing that appears in Google Maps and the local "map pack". Google only allows these profiles for businesses that make in-person contact with customers during their stated hours: either at a location customers visit, like a practice or a shop, or by serving customers at their homes or offices, like a contractor or a cleaning company. Businesses that only work online aren't eligible.

If your business qualifies, the profile is one of the most important local search assets you have, and it should belong to you. We help you set it up and keep it healthy: the right primary category, accurate service areas and hours, services and photos, regular posts, and a website link with tracking so you can measure the visits in Google Analytics.

Verification is always done by you, because Google verifies the business itself. You stay the owner of the profile and add us as a manager you can remove at any time. We never create listings at virtual offices or addresses you don't operate from, and we never post fake or incentivized reviews. Both break Google's rules and can get a profile suspended.

How it works

How an SEO engagement works

  1. 1

    Free call and audit

A 30-minute video call about your goals, then an audit of your site's technical health, local presence and current search visibility.

  2. 2

    Prioritized plan

A written plan that ranks every fix and content idea by impact and effort, with a fixed quote for the work.

  3. 3

    Fixes and content

We implement the technical fixes, build or improve the pages that matter and set up tracking, sharing progress on a staging link.

  4. 4

    Monthly reporting

A short monthly report and review call. We adjust the plan based on what the data shows, not on guesswork.

Everything runs remotely (video calls, shared reports and email), so it fits around your schedule.

No tricks

What we won't promise

  • Guaranteed first-page or #1 rankings (nobody controls Google's results).
  • Fake, bought or incentivized reviews.
  • Link schemes, private blog networks or paid links that break Google's spam policies.
  • Dozens of near-identical town pages built only to rank ("doorway pages").
  • Reports full of vanity metrics instead of the calls and leads you care about.

How SEO work is priced

SEO depends on your site, your market and your goals, so we quote it after the free audit call instead of selling one-size-fits-all packages. Foundational technical SEO is already included in every website we build, at no extra cost.

FAQ

SEO services FAQ: timelines, rankings and Google Business Profile

Technical fixes can show up in Google within a few weeks of being crawled, while local and content work usually takes several months to build momentum. It depends on your competition, your site's history and how much content you need. We give you a realistic estimate after the audit, never a guaranteed ranking.

No. Nobody controls Google's rankings, and Google itself warns against companies that guarantee them. What we do promise is a clear plan, the technical and content work to support it, and monthly reporting on the numbers that matter: impressions, clicks, calls and form leads.

Yes, if your business is eligible: Google Business Profile is only for businesses that meet customers in person, at your location or theirs. You verify and own the profile and add us as a manager; we handle categories, services, hours, photos, posts and tracking, and you can remove our access at any time.

Yes. We audit any site (WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace or custom) and either fix the issues directly when we have access or give your developer a prioritized list. If the platform itself is the bottleneck, we'll tell you and explain the options.

SEO is scoped to your site, market and goals, so we quote it after a free call instead of selling fixed packages. Foundational technical SEO is already included in every website we build. Landing pages start at $699 and business websites at $2,500.
